Case Study: How Search Scope Reinstated a Suspended Google Business Profile After Multiple Rejections

Last Updated on 25 September 2025 by Dorian Menard
In late July, a landscaping contractor based in Queensland came to Search Scope with a suspended Google Business Profile (GBP). The business owner hadn’t acted on the suspension, leaving their visibility and lead flow cut off.
We chose this case to illustrate why we are the best Google Business Profile reinstatement experts in Australia and how our step-by-step process works, and how persistence pays off even in complex situations.
Step 1 – Initial Audit and Document Preparation
We began with a full audit of the client’s Google Business Profile and website. Our review flagged several compliance gaps that could cause rejection. We then guided the client in preparing the required documents:
- ASIC business name renewal
- ATO documents
- Utility bills
- Business invoices
This onboarding step ensures all appeals are built on solid, verifiable evidence.

Step 2 – First Appeal (Rejected)
The first reinstatement request was submitted with the prepared documents. Google rejected it. We believe the rejection stemmed from name inconsistencies: the business owner used a simplified Australian name in branding, while his legal documents carried a different, complex name.
Despite providing evidence linking both identities, Google did not accept it. The first appeal (and the second) are mostly automated and Google relies on their automation and AI to process the documents and appeals.
Step 3 – Second Appeal with Stronger Evidence
For the second attempt, we strengthened the case:
- A statutory declaration was prepared and submitted
- Additional documents were certified by his accountant
- Government records were updated to reflect consistency across documents

Despite this, the second appeal was also denied. At this stage, we received the redress option response from Google, confirming that standard reinstatement channels were exhausted.

Step 4 – Escalation to Google Support
Recognising the issue required direct intervention, we escalated the case through human Google Business Profile support. This step took about a week. The profile was reinstated on 13 August.

Step 5 – Unexpected Re-Suspension and Final Resolution
A few days after reinstatement, Google suspended the profile again without clear explanation. The client, understandably frustrated, reached out immediately.

We initiated a second escalation and presented the updated compliance documents alongside prior evidence. Within days, the profile was fully reinstated — this time permanently.
Outcome
- The business regained its local search visibility and lead flow
- The process, from the first suspension to final reinstatement, took just under 3 weeks despite multiple rejections
- The client received a free audit of their GBP and rankings as part of our service, ensuring future compliance and optimisation
Key Takeaways
- Persistence matters: initial denials don’t mean the end of the road
- Documentation is everything: matching details across ASIC, ATO, and utility records is critical
- Escalation works: knowing when and how to move beyond standard appeals makes the difference
- We never give up: our system moves through phases until resolution is reached
This case demonstrates how Search Scope’s structured reinstatement process — from audit, to overturning a rejected appeal, to escalation — consistently delivers results, even in complex scenarios.
